Your Electric Ireland bill terms and charges
Manage your account number
This is your Electric Ireland account number - it won't change, even if you move. It is a nine digit number starting with the number 9.
Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN)
The MPRN number identifies your connection to the ESB Network and is unique to your home.
Meter Reading type
If there is an 'E' following the number, it means the reading has been estimated.
If there is a 'C' following the number, it means the reading has been taken by a customer.
If there is an 'A' following the number, it means the reading is an actual reading taken by ESB Networks.
Total due
This is the total amount due for payment.
Pay By
Bills must be cleared by the payment date shown on the bill. 14 days credit is allowed for bills without arrears, those with arrears are due immediately.
Your Electricity Usage
The total number of units used in your billing period, multiplied by the price per unit.
Standing charge
The Standing charge is a combination of the fixed charges associated with providing electricity network services (e.g. meter reading and network operations/maintenance) and a share of the supply costs in servicing your electricity account
PSO Levy
The Public Service Obligation (PSO) Levy relates to the recovery of any additional costs associated with meeting the obligation to purchase electricity generated from sustainable, renewable and indigenous sources.
Charges for other services
From time to time, you may need to avail of other services from ESB such as meter exchanges, installation of night storage heating meters or disconnections/reconnections for which there is a charge.
