The Distribution Code defines the technical aspects of the working relationships between the Distribution System Operator (DSO) and all users of the distribution system.
The "distribution system" is another term used to describe the electricity network in Ireland. The Distribution System Operator (DSO) is ESB Networks.
The Distribution Code aims to ensure an efficient, co-ordinated and economical system for electricity distribution. The code was approved by Commission for Electricity Regulation (CER) in March 2000. All modifications and updates also need to be approved by CER.
ESB under its Distribution System Operator licence is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the Distribution Code Review Panel (DCRP).
The DCRP is a standing body constituted to review the Distribution Code and propose amendments for approval by CER.
The contact address for any query in relation to the Distribution Code and DCRP is DistCodePanel@esb.ie
