In certain circumstances you may wish to arrange for a building's electricity supply to be completely disconnected. This will require a visit from ESB Networks in order to physically disconnect the supply.
You may wish to completely disconnect the electricity supply from a building if:
Note: You do not need to disconnect the supply if you are simply moving out and the building may be occupied again soon (or be unoccupied for a short time).
Contact your electricity supplier and give your account number or MPRN reference. (Your supplier's telephone number will be at the top of your bill.)
Tell your supplier that you wish to have your supply disconnected. If you have more than one meter, please provide Meter Numbers (RM Numbers) available on the face of the meter.

If you also wish to have the meter removed, your supplier can arrange for this to happen at the same time.
Contact ESB Networks and ask for the meter to be removed.

When you contact us, it is important to have your Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) at hand. The MPRN number can be found on an old electricity bill for the meter /connection point in question. The MPRN number is a unique reference number that tells us exactly where you are on the electricity network.
Failing that, you may also tell us the address of the building and the actual Meter number (RM Number) available on the face of the meter. Find out more about different meter types
