If you are moving into an existing premises or taking over an existing premises from a previous occupier, there are 3 things you must do:
The purpose of this agreement is to ensure that electricity continues to be supplied to your premises and that the correct person is charged for usage. In simple terms, it ensures that the name of the current occupier appears on the electricity bill for the premises.

Once you have registered with an electricity supplier, ESB Networks will automatically send you a Connection Agreement.
A Connection Agreement is a document that sets out the conditions that govern the provision of a connection (of a defined capacity) for your premises from the electricity network. The Connection Agreement contains both our 'General Conditions for Connection' and any specific terms that govern your individual connection.
This agreement is based on the existing Maximum Import Capacity (MIC) for your premises. Maximum Import Capacity is defined as the total electrical loading for which the connection of your premises to the electricity network has been designed.

Please sign and return your Connection Agreement to:

It is important for you to establish if the Maximum Import Capacity (MIC) that applies to your premises is appropriate for the purposes you have in mind.
For example, if the previous occupier of your premises used very little electricity, the MIC may be set quite low. If you now intend to install energy intensive equipment, you risk having insufficient electricity for your needs.
Alternatively, the MIC may be set too high and you could end up paying excessive charges on your electricity bill.
To change your MIC visit the page 'Increase or decrease your supply'
Important! You must first sign and return a Connection Agreement (see Step 2 above) before you can apply to change your MIC.
