Construction Development Agreement

At an early stage in the application for connection process, a Construction Development Agreement, which sets out the connection characteristics for each connection point in a development, may be required. Included in this agreement are:

  • The Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN). MPRN is a unique reference number that identifies your connection point to the electricity network.
  • The Maximum Import Capacity (MIC) at each connection point, in kilovolt-amps (kVA).
  • The postal address as agreed with the Local Authority.

You will need to sign and return a Construction Development Agreement if you are developing one or more of the following:

  • A multi-unit Housing Scheme or Apartment Development
  • A multi-unit Business Park or Industrial Development

How to obtain a Construction Development Agreement

To obtain a Construction Development Agreement, please follow the application process explained on the page 'Connect a new multi-unit housing or commercial/industrial development'

Individual Connection Agreements for units with MIC greater than 29 kilvolt-amps

At a later stage in the application process, it may be necessary for individual Connection Agreements to be signed by the individual owners/occupiers of the new units. To do this the new owner/occupiers must be registered with a supplier of their choice. However, this only applies to units with MIC greater than 29 kilvolt-amps (kVA).

Note: Construction Development Agreements are not needed for new connections to a single commercial or industrial unit.
