ESB Independent Energy
What we do
A company within the ESB Group, ESB Independent Energy (ESBIE) was established in 2000 to offer an alternative energy supply service to industrial, commercial and business energy users on the island of Ireland.
We deliver highly competitively priced and individually tailored energy solutions and services to our target market.
Our customers include a host of well known and respected names from all sectors of the business community, including:
- Education
- Research and development
- Manufacturing
- Retailing
- Sports and leisure
As part of the ESB International Group, we have the unique advantage of having access to ESB Independent Generation's supply capacity from:
- Dublin Bay Power Plant in the Republic of Ireland
- Coolkeeragh in Northern Ireland
- Increasingly, various other renewable sources including wind and ocean power generation
Our products and services
Our strategy is to provide the right products and services, the best advice, and value for money and grow long-term relationships with our customers.
All our products and services are backed by a premium level of service that differentiates ESBIE from other suppliers.
They include an extensive range of highly competitive energy supply contracts - including renewable energy contracts - and our range of energy consulting services.
Our consulting services include:
- Lighting and energy auditing and monitoring
- Power quality monitoring
- MV and HV electrical design and maintenance
- And many others
For industrial and commercial customers, we provide account management services through committed and experienced Customer Relationship Managers (CRMs) who provide one-to-one service to customers. CRMs are located in:
- Dublin
- Belfast
- Londonderry
- Limerick
- Cork
- Tullamore
Our SME customers are serviced by dedicated Customer Service Teams at our offices in Santry, Dublin and Laganside, Belfast.
Our support for communities
Along with making significant economic investments in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, we support a number of community initiatives promoting sustainability and local businesses.

In 2009, ESBIE was awarded Platinum status - the highest standard achievable - in the FAS Excellence Through People (ETP) awards scheme. This is the only quality standard dedicated to the role of people and their impact on business.
