Number 29 & Dublin Senior Citizen Day  
Number 29 will open free of charge on Monday 30th November as part of Dublin Senior Citizen Day. This is a day when Senior Citizens are invited to come and enjoy Dublin City, and can use their Free Travel Pass to avail of free cultural activities and special discounts in Dublin shops. Number 29 will also be offering 10% discount in our gift shop. For more information see

Recent Additions to Number 29  
ESB Number 29 was delighted to receive on a long term loan from a private lender two late Georgian swords by the maker John Read of College Green, Dublin These beautifully made weapons highlight the extent to which Ireland was a militarised society in the 18th and 19th centuries and the tensions that existed in Dublin in and around the 1798 Rebellion and Robert Emmet’s insurrection in 1803.

Museum Standards Programme for Ireland

ESB is delighted to announce that Number 29 has been selected to participate in the Heritage Council's Museum Standards Programme for Ireland. Number 29 is now one of over 40 collections' based

organisations across Ireland taking part in the initiative which the Heritage Council describes as

"the first of its kind in the Republic of Ireland, [MSPI] sets out to improve all aspects of Ireland's museum practice. A voluntary programme, it has attracted involvement from across the cultural spectrum — from national institutions to small, volunteer-led organisations"

Darton Scroll Digitization

ESB/ Number 29 has recently commissioned a high grade archival digitisation of the two paper and linen scrolls which form the "Rudiment Box", part of which is on display in the Nursery of the Georgian House Museum. These important and rare early 19th century educational resources were produced by the London firm of Darton and Son. One scroll is on loan to the museum by kind permission of the Church of Ireland College of Education.
