The Mineral Kingdom

Geology and Mineralogy
Geology and Mineralogy

The Rudiment Box Instructions state that "anything dug out of the earth which does not grow and live, like plants, is called a mineral substance". In common with the emphasis on utility and practicality shown elsewhere on the scrolls, each mineral is identified with a practical application and an end product, such as zinc and lead combining to form sheet lead (used in roofing) and mercury being used in thermometers.
