STEPS to engineering

STEPS to engineering was established in 2000 to promote engineering to students of all ages through various initiatives and to encourage students to consider engineering as a career choice.

It is managed by Engineers Ireland and is supported by the Department of Education & Science, Forfás, FÁS and a number of major engineering employers.

What's on the programme?

In 2008, over 85,000 students nationwide participated in STEPS to engineering organised events such as:

  • The Xperience Engineering primary school initiative
  • The Junior Inventor for 2009 competition
  • Extreme Engineering shows
  • Student seminars
  • Scholarships and contests
  • Summer camps
  • CAO courses
