About the images

Amorebieta

Amorebieta Power Plant (Bizkaia Energia Limited), located near Bilbao in the Basque Region of Northern Spain, is a 755MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. It has been in operation since 2005. ESBI has a 50% shareholding in Bizkaia with Osaka Gas. The plant is tolled by Shell España. ESBI is also the operation & maintenance contractor at Amorebieta.

SeaGen

The SeaGen device is the world's first commercial scale tidal power generating device, deployed at Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland. ESBI invested in Marine Current Turbines Ltd (MCT), the company that designed and developed the pioneering 1.2MW tidal stream device. SeaGen is capable of providing enough clean electricity to power 1,000 homes. Electric Ireland has signed a five year power purchase agreement to buy all electricity output from SeaGen to be sold as part of its green energy offering, making ESB one of the first utilities in the world to provide tidal energy to its customers.

Coolkeeragh

ESBI owns, operates and maintains Coolkeeragh Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. Coolkeeragh is a major investment in the energy infrastructure of Northern Ireland and has been in operation since June 2005. The 400MW plant uses the latest large-scale gas turbine technology and uses cleaner fuel and higher efficiency technology. It is also fitted with a dual-fuel capability to ensure security of supply. The electricity generated by the station is sold by Electric Ireland to retail customers in Ireland, north and south.
