Appointment of Deputy Chief Executive

27th May 2009: The Managing Director of ESB Networks, John Shine, has been appointed the new Deputy Chief Executive of ESB.

He replaces Aidan O'Regan who retired last week after 44 years of service to the company. Mr Shine's appointment was today approved by the Board of ESB.

Appointed Executive Director of ESB Networks in 2002, John joined the company in 1978 and has held a number of senior positions across the company's businesses.

A native of Templemore, Co Tipperary, he is an Electrical Engineering and MBA graduate of UCD.

The Board also confirmed the permanent appointment of John Campion as Executive Director Sustainability and Luke Shinnors as Executive Director Human Resources.
