Press release

Statement from ESB regarding River Shannon as at 9:30am, Saturday 28th November 2009

28th November 2009:

Water levels in Lough Derg are stable and fell by approximately 1cm overnight. ESB is not increasing the discharge rate from Parteen Weir today, but will continue to discharge at the same rate as yesterday (Friday 27/11/2009).

In general, flood levels downstream of Parteen Weir are not expected to change, but ESB is still advising constant vigilance.

The situation remains under constant review. ESB continues to work closely with the Inter Agency Group which includes the local Councils, HSE and the Emergency Services.

A fresh update will be issued on Sunday, November 29th.
