Press release

Statement from ESB regarding River Shannon at 10:00am, Monday, 30th November 2009

30th November 2009:

Water levels in Lough Derg have fallen by a further 6cm in the past 24 hours. The discharge rate from Parteen Weir has reduced overnight by 7% due to the falling water levels. It is expected that this discharge rate may reduce further over the next 24 hours.

It is anticipated that water levels will recede slowly downstream of Parteen Weir by an estimated 7 to 8cms during the course of today.

ESB is still advising constant vigilance. The situation is being closely monitored and ESB continues to work with the Inter Agency Group which includes the local Councils, HSE and the Emergency Services.

A further update will be issued later.
