The latest Irish energy news from ESB
Press release
Update from ESB at 5:15pm
30th November 2009:
River Shannon:
Water levels in Lough Derg remain stable and the situation at Parteen Weir remains unchanged since this morning. There will be no increase in discharge rates overnight at the Weir.
River Liffey:
The flood on the River Liffey has peaked and is abating slowly.
ESB operates three dams on the River Liffey - at the Poulaphouca Reservoir, at Golden Fall (2 kms downstream) and at Leixlip. Water levels remain high in Poulaphouca Reservior and ESB has had to discharge water gradually from the Reservoir throughout today. The discharge is making no significant impact on downstream flooding.
In each flood situation, ESB is still advising constant vigilance. The situation is being closely monitored and ESB continues to work with the Inter Agency Group which includes the local Councils, HSE and the Emergency Services.
Further updates will be issued in the morning.
