ESB Flood Update at 10:00am on Saturday 5th December
5th December 2009:
River Shannon:
The water levels in Lough Derg have reduced by a further 5cm overnight and are now down to the previous record high level on the lake. The discharge rate from Parteen Weir has been reduced by a further 7% overnight.
Significant amounts of rain are forecast for today and the situation remains closely monitored. ESB continues to work with the Inter Agency Group including the Local Councils, HSE and the Emergency Services.
River Liffey:
Reservoir levels remain high at Poulaphouca. Water levels on the Liffey also remain high and ESB continues to discharge water from the reservoir.
This discharge will continue but is subject to ongoing monitoring and weather conditions.
Continued vigilance is advised. Further notice will follow should the situation on either the Shannon or the Liffey change over the next 24 hours.
