Executive Director Changes

ESB has announced that its Group Finance Director, Bernard Byrne and its Director of ESB Energy International, Michael McNicholas are to leave the company to take up positions in the private sector. A Civil Engineer, Mr McNicholas was first appointed Executive Director in July 2002. Mr Byrne, a Chartered Accountant was appointed ESB Group Finance Director in January 2004.

ESB will shortly place advertisements to fill the vacancies.

ESB Chief Executive, Padraig McManus, described Mr Byrne and Mr McNicholas as people of the highest calibre and thanked them for the enthusiasm, drive and commitment they have brought to the company.

“Michael and Bernard are of exceptional quality and will bring valuable experience and innovative thinking to their new roles. They are highly respected in ESB and I thank them both for their immense contribution and the exacting standards they brought to all aspects of their work in the very challenging and changing times for the energy industry. I wish them every success in the future”, the Chief Executive said.
