ESB Statement welcoming the Report of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on the Environment, Heritage and Local Government
ESB sincerely sympathises with all those affected by the severe weather events of late 2009 and early 2010.
The company thanks the Oireachtas Joint Committee on the Environment, Heritage and Local Government for its consideration of these complex events and for facilitating ESB through its hearings and visit to ESB hydro electric power stations.
ESB welcomes today’s report and reiterates that the company acted at all times in accordance with dam management procedures in order to maximise public safety and alleviate flood damage. The company issued adequate warnings.
ESB looks forward to fully participating in any further review of the severe weather events. The company is committed to working with other agencies in the areas of flood risk and emergency management.
