Using gas and electricity safely at home

Electric Ireland brings electricity and gas into homes around Ireland and is responsible for the installation and maintenance of your electricity meter, but it is up to you to make sure that all the electrical and gas equipment in your home or property is properly installed and maintained.

Follow our tips for basic gas safety at home:

  • If you smell gas call Bord Gáis Networks’ 24 Hour Emergency Service 1850 205 050,
  • Look out for the tell-tale signs of Carbon Monoxide poisoning,
  • Ensure all gas installations are completed to the highest standard,
  • Find out what to do in an emergency or if you smell gas.
