Join Irish success stories like Viddyad, Datahug and OpenBack and put your start-up on the world stage at Web Summit 2017. Now in its seventh year, ESB Spark of Genius provides a platform for high potential Irish start-​ups to succeed globally. 

This year, shortlisted entrants will have an opportunity to showcase their ideas on RTE 2fm, and three finalists will be flown to Lisbon to pitch their start-up to leading global investors at Web Summit 2017. The winning start-up will receive €25,000 as well as a package of mentoring support from innovation and strategy experts to help them shift their business to the next phase. ​

With previous winners like Viddyad, OpenBack, Datahug, Bizimply and SmartThings, ESB Spark of Genius is now firmly established in the Irish tech calendar and a recognised pathway to a brighter future for high potential start-ups.

Prize

Why Enter?​

  • Shortlisted ​start-ups will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas on RTE 2FM in the lead up to Web Summit 2017.

  • Three finalists will be selected to pitch in front of a global audience at Web Summit 2017. Flights and accommodation in Lisbon will be provided.

  • The winning ​start-up will receive €25,000 and a tailored package of mentoring support from innovation and strategic experts in ESB.

Does your Spark of Genius fit the criteria?

ESB Spark of Genius is open to technology start-​ups who have been in operation for less than three years and have received under €1 million in funding. Entrants must be able to demonstrate how their ideas solve critical problems in four areas namely: 

Could your idea enhance quality of life for Irish consumers through smart technology in the home?

Could your idea improve network efficiency or deliver new innovative communications solutions though smart technology?

Could your idea improve network efficiency, connect customers in new and exciting ways or deliver innovative communications solutions though smart technology?

Could your idea use technology  to solve social issues or encourage the bright thinkers and creative problem solvers of the future?
