Meet Some Of The Team

IT Employee at ESBI started my journey in ESB in 2015 as an undergraduate and straight away I felt welcomed, supported, and empowered to excel. The people, the culture and the exciting plans for Digital and IT made it clear to me that this was a place I wanted to work.
After graduating in 2017, I returned to ESB where I was offered the opportunity to work in many different roles and areas across IT Delivery, including my recent move to Digital.  My potential was recognised early and I was trusted with challenging new roles and increasing responsibilities that have shaped my career to date. It's so exhilarating and motivating to work in such a dynamic and ever changing digital landscape. The energy each new project brings is contagious and brings great opportunity for growth and progression in both my career and personal life. I have so much pride in the projects that both my team and I have been involved in and I look forward to the exciting journey we have ahead.

 - Rhianne Fahey, Digital Project Office Lead

IT Employee at ESBI have been working with ESB for just under two years. I joined in December 2019 and spent three months in the Gateway offices until Covid hit, and since March 2020 have been exclusively remote working. During my time here I have been involved in a number of important projects such as the Electric Ireland SMART Cutover and Red Hat Linux Security and Compliance Patching Fulfilment. During the necessary transition from largely on-site working to near universal remote working, I was impressed by the agility and flexibility shown by the organisation in the face of the enormous challenges involved in setting up and migrating users to a new way of working. In the relatively short period that I have been working with ESB, I have noticed how collegial and approachable the work culture is despite the fact it is a very large organisation. I like the fact the company doesn’t simply talk about offering a good work-life balance, it makes every effort to encourage and embrace the concept.

Lastly, I am encouraged at how ESB sees itself as being at the heart of the solution in Ireland and abroad to the challenge imposed by the climate crisis, and the vision it is promoting in leading employees and our customers to a decarbonised future.

IT Employee at ESBI joined the ESB Enterprise Services team in October 2020 as a data analyst and this has by far been one of the best decisions I have ever made. My manager and team members have been highly supportive - given we were all working from home when I started, it meant a lot to me to have that support. So far, I have been a part of some amazing projects with the liberty to choose how I want to work on them. I am amazed by the work culture, freedom and the endless possibilities ESB provides for both personal and professional growth, be it 1:1 meetings with your manager, arranging live training sessions, providing course materials etc. I didn’t believe in all the good things I had heard about ESB, but after a year now I can personally vouch that it’s all true. For anyone interested in joining ESB, you’ll get an abundance of opportunities to find your feet and explore various businesses within the company. I highly recommend ESB as an employer.

IT Employee at ESBHaving worked for the past five years in ESB as a Project Manager delivering major projects and now working as a Product Lead for Electric Ireland, I can say that ESB offers a great number of opportunities to grow and develop. The nature of ESB business is that it’s so wide and diverse from each business unit that it gives you the opportunity to develop new skills and learn new technologies and ways of working in the new digital utility era. Also, from an IT Delivery and Project and Product Management perspective, ESB offers a great career development programme.

- Vijay Melwani, Customer Solutions Product Lead
