Meet Some Of The Team

J CoughlanI joined ESB in July 2017 as an IT Project Manager on the Smart Meter project. In a professional career as a Manager, Consultant and Contractor working with, and in, several Multinational and large National organisations spanning both the Public Service and the Private Sector in Ireland and Abroad, I have found that the ESB is best in providing an excellent work environment with the opportunity to develop new skills and learn new technologies. The culture is truly collaborative and supportive while encouraging a good work/life balance. I am continually impressed by the commitment, drive and ability of my colleagues to meet the exciting challenges involved in creating a sustainable clean energy future and would strongly recommend ESB- John Coughlan, Project Manager

IT Employee at ESBI started my journey in ESB in 2015 as an undergraduate and straight away I felt welcomed, supported, and empowered to excel. The people, the culture and the exciting plans for Digital and IT made it clear to me that this was a place I wanted to work.
After graduating in 2017, I returned to ESB where I was offered the opportunity to work in many different roles and areas across IT Delivery, including my recent move to Digital.  My potential was recognised early and I was trusted with challenging new roles and increasing responsibilities that have shaped my career to date. It's so exhilarating and motivating to work in such a dynamic and ever changing digital landscape. The energy each new project brings is contagious and brings great opportunity for growth and progression in both my career and personal life. I have so much pride in the projects that both my team and I have been involved in and I look forward to the exciting journey we have ahead.
- Rhianne Fahey, Digital Project Office Lead

MicrosoftTeams-imageI've had a varied career with ESB over two decades and I look forward to more variety. I began working with ESB in 1999 and spent nine years working as IT Security analyst. In 2008 I changed focus and became a technical IT team leader. For four years I managed teams in the web, desktop and Citrix support areas. This allowed me to develop people management skills and to become comfortable working in areas where I was not the expert. In 2012 I took on my first management role. I was charged with renewing ESB's IT infrastructure, renewing our data centres, and moving new and existing infrastructure to new data centres. This exposed me to a wide range of IT, Telecoms, Engineering and Electrical stakeholders and challenges, while greatly enhancing my operations management knowledge. In 2017 I moved into Project Management where I oversee a portfolio of critical IT projects for diverse stakeholders. Between then and now, I have spent two years on other management assignments. One year was spent as the IT Vendor and Asset Manager, and another as ESB's Cyber Security Operations manager. I don't think many companies could offer such a range of technical, commercial, and transformational roles. The fact that we work in support of ESB's mission to lead Ireland's transition to a low carbon future is a bonus. - Billy Crowley, Project Portfolio Manager

IT Employee at ESBI joined the ESB Enterprise Services team in October 2020 as a data analyst and this has by far been one of the best decisions I have ever made. My manager and team members have been highly supportive - given we were all working from home when I started, it meant a lot to me to have that support. So far, I have been a part of some amazing projects with the liberty to choose how I want to work on them. I am amazed by the work culture, freedom and the endless possibilities ESB provides for both personal and professional growth, be it 1:1 meetings with your manager, arranging live training sessions, providing course materials etc. I didn’t believe in all the good things I had heard about ESB, but after a year now I can personally vouch that it’s all true. For anyone interested in joining ESB, you’ll get an abundance of opportunities to find your feet and explore various businesses within the company. I highly recommend ESB as an employer. - Dimpy Jain, Data Analyst

IT Employee at ESBHaving worked for the past five years in ESB as a Project Manager delivering major projects and now working as a Product Lead for Electric Ireland, I can say that ESB offers a great number of opportunities to grow and develop. The nature of ESB business is that it’s so wide and diverse from each business unit that it gives you the opportunity to develop new skills and learn new technologies and ways of working in the new digital utility era. Also, from an IT Delivery and Project and Product Management perspective, ESB offers a great career development programme. - Vijay Melwani, Customer Solutions Product Lead
