Carrington Power Station, Manchester

In 2016 ESB opened Carrington power station near Manchester. This 884MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant is one of the most efficient thermal plants on the UK energy system and generates enough electricity to power more than one million homes and businesses.

Turlough Hill Power Station, Co. Wicklow

Turlough Hill, Ireland's only pumped storage power station, is located 60kms south of Dublin in the Wicklow Mountains. The station generates up to 292MW during peak demand periods by releasing water from it's upper reservoir and allowing it to flow through four turbines to the lower Lough Nahanagan. During periods of lower demand the water is pumped back to the upper reservoir ready to be used again.

Raheenleagh Wind Farm, Co. Wicklow 

Raheenleagh wind farm is located near Arklow, Co. Wicklow and became operational in September 2016. The wind farm has an installed capacity of 35 MW which generates enough renewable energy to power 22,500 homes per year.
