Electric Ireland add Snap! to the nostalgia-driven Throwback Party at Stradbally
After announcing Bananarama last week, Electric Ireland, the official energy partner of Electric Picnic, is adding ‘90s act Snap! to the line-up of their nostalgia-filled Throwback Party. The German Eurodance project will perform dance classics such as Rhythm Is a Dancer and The Power at the Electric Ireland Throwback Party with another act still to be announced.
Speaking about their upcoming performance at Electric Picnic on Sunday night September 4th, Penny Ford and Jesse Kolb of Snap! remarked, "Electric Ireland were looking for the ultimate floor-filler to close their Throwback Party on Sunday night at Electric Picnic. They knew Snap! had the answer... Rhythm is a Dancer! Believe the hype. We're bringing the power to the Throwback Party."
A dance-off ring has been added to the Throwback Party, giving people a chance to show their best moves. Each person gets 60 seconds of a random tune played by the Throwback DJ. In between the dancing, festivalgoers can also chill to some classic movies such as Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Goonies. Smash Hits, the popular tribute group of early ‘90s dance, pop and R’n’B, will return to the tent again this year on Sunday, 4th September.
For those not wanting to experience Electric Picnic FOMO this year, Electric Ireland is giving away 30 weekend tickets in its much-anticipated annual ticket giveaway. The tickets are being given away through a throwback themed game show, Electric Ireland Throwback Live, a five day Facebook Live competition. Electric Ireland Throwback Live is a game show inspired by a different throwback theme every evening, it kicked off on Monday night with charades and ticket hopefuls are urged to tune in every evening this week until Friday the 26th at 7.30pm.
As official energy partner to Electric Picnic, Electric Ireland also installs six kilometres of energy efficient festoon lighting around the campsites and walkways to guide attendees around the festival.
