More Savings this Winter for Electric Ireland Customers

Electric Ireland announced today (Thursday 15 September) that it will reduce its gas unit prices for its residential customers by 5% from October 1st 2016.  This means Electric Ireland will have the lowest priced standard gas rate and lowest priced standard dual fuel (gas and electricity) rates in the Irish market.

This reduction will benefit Electric Ireland’s average residential gas customer with a saving of €39.47 (including VAT) per year.   This is Electric Ireland’s third reduction in residential gas prices in 18 months delivering an average saving of €80 to gas customers during this time.

Commenting on the reduction, Jim Dollard, Executive Director, Electric Ireland said, “We are happy to reduce prices again for our gas customers ahead of winter and fulfil our promise of passing on savings to our customers as soon as they become available. This announcement means Electric Ireland dual fuel (gas and electricity) customers will have saved €188 through six separate reductions in electricity and gas prices in the last two years.  This includes the 6% decrease in electricity unit prices last June”.

Electric Ireland customers can also claim additional savings of up to 8.5% off their energy bills year after year if they pay by direct debit and sign up for online billing.   This offer has the added benefit of no contracts, no expiry dates and no exit fees.  Electric Ireland customers can claim these savings by simply calling 1850 30 50 90 or signing up at www.electricireland.ie.
