NEW DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR GROUP FINANCE & COMMERCIAL AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS

18th November 2022

ESB has announced three Executive Director changes.

Marguerite Sayers has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive of the Group succeeding Jerry O’Sullivan who is retiring following 41 years with the organisation. Pat Fenlon took up his new role as Executive Director, Customer Solutions in September and Paul Stapleton was appointed Executive Director, Group Finance and Commercial from early October.

Commenting on these new appointments, ESB Chief Executive Paddy Hayes said, “Marguerite, Pat and Paul all bring considerable experience and capability as well as a record of delivery. They assume their new roles at a time of great change, as the energy sector confronts the challenges of decarbonisation, security and affordability. I look forward to working with Marguerite, Pat and Paul to ensure that ESB continues to make a difference, driving to Net Zero, and bringing sustainable and competitive energy solutions to our customers.

Marguerite Sayers is a very experienced and valued member of ESB’s leadership team who previously headed up ESB Networks and in recent years led the growth of ESB’s Customer Solutions portfolio, including Electric Ireland. As Executive Director, Group Finance and Commercial, Pat Fenlon steered ESB’s financial performance to enable increasing investment in critical electricity infrastructure. Paul Stapleton’s most recent role was as Managing Director of NIE Networks, with responsibility for the distribution of safe, secure and increasingly sustainable electricity to over 900,000 homes, farms and businesses in Northern Ireland.”
